Ectotherm Insulated 12v Heated Jacket (V2.0)

Size

We added carbon fiber heating elements to a kick-ass technical puffy, and the ‘Ectotherm’ was born. The updated V2.0 brings a redesigned lower-profile controller and cable management pocket, plus two new battery-saving modes to extend off-bike capabilities when used with a power bank.

When the wind chill is at its peak, the Ectotherm’s bike-powered 6-panel carbon-fiber 3.5Amps/42w heating system will keep you warm on high alpine passes and long, cold pavement stretches.  When you crawl out of your tent on frigid mornings, the Ectotherm performs as a super warm stand-alone insulator with 100g body-mapped synthetic PrimaLoft Gold insulation with Cross Core Technology.

V2.0's upgraded heat settings include a Low Power Mode, where the heating elements pulse, gradually increasing and decreasing heat, helping maximize battery life when plugged into an external power bank. In Timer Mode, an auto-off setting is activated to maintain your desired heat level at 20/30/60 minute presets, which is handy for falling asleep on bitter nights and not using up all your battery.

Unlike conventional heated liners the Ectotherm is a fully functional stand-alone synthetic insulation layer. By combining the functionality of a technical puffy and a heated liner we’ve added even more performance and versatility to a layer that we rarely leave home without. Now you can enjoy the comfort of onboard 12V heat without over burdening your pack space. Pair it with heated grips and hand-shields to create the ultimate minimalist heat system for backcountry and RTW travel.

Built with 100g of PrimaLoft Gold Insulation with Cross Core Technology at the core and 60g in the underarms to reduce bulk under armor, the Ectotherm is well equipped for any cold weather trip. This high-tech insulation combines PrimaLoft Gold, with aerogel technology, to provide up to 52% more warmth than the same weight of PrimaLoft Gold Insulation alone. This enables us to achieve both enhanced warmth and decreased weight. Integrated directly into the fibers, aerogel further enhances the performance of synthetic insulation. Now not only will it perform better than down when wet, it will also perform better when compressed under armor.

To further battle the chill of riding in the cold, we added 6 thin, flexible carbon fiber heat panels in the collar, arms, left and right chest and back. Activate the heat with a hem mounted controller to toggle through 3 levels of 3.5amp/42w heat to maximize comfort. The system is powered by your bike’s 12V battery (wiring harness included) for heat that lasts as long as the ride. When it comes to cold weather riding the Ectotherm Insulated 12v Heated Jacket is a powerhouse of comfort when pushing the boundaries of riding season.

The Ectotherm name comes from Ectothermic, a scientific term for animals that exchange body heat with external sources, like a lizard basking on a hot rock.

Ectotherm - Alaska

Returned from a trip from Utah to Prudhoe Bay. I got the jacket two days before I left. It was fantastic. Never got cold, got rained on every day of our trip but 4, out of 17 days. Saw temps from 39 to 65. Awesome piece of gear. Only wish I would have got a large instead of a xl, just because the length would be a little better for me!

Warm with or without being plugged in

This jacket gets really warm and that’s coming from someone that is always cold. But it can also be used on lower settings.

Seems great, bought in summer

I've been waiting months for this jacket to come back in stock, so jumped on buying it in the middle of the summer when they re-stocked. I have not tested on the bike or in cold (but will in August in the mountains) but so far I really like it. Great fit, stuffs small in its own pocket, and gets hot quick when powered on. I like the cables options to connect to the bike. You can connect the coax cable directly to the battery or if you already have an SAE connector for a battery charger there is an SAE to coax cable you can use for the jacket.

I also wanted to have the jacket powered off the bike and purchased the SP-10 micro-start from Antigravity. It has a 12V port that the jacket connects too and while it is big (should have good run time) it does fit in the jacket pocket. I also like the one picture owners manual on the inside of the jacket - nice touch!

For size, I got the XL and fits great. I'm 6'0" and 185 lbs and dad type body.

Fit is true to size. Materials and construction look top notch as per all Mosko gear. I tested everything and it’s an easy interface to change settings. Wire and battery hookup with fuse has plenty of slack which is nice if a repair is necessary at some point. Jacket is a comfortable puffy on its own and has good insulation even without being plugged in. I’m actually looking forward to long brutal cold riding days now!
