The Woodsman In-The-Boot Pant is a technical softshell pant for enduro riding with a CE-B rating for abrasion resistance. It’s just as at home on tight Northwest woods singletrack as it is in the open desert or on extended ADV trips. The hybrid design puts waterproof / breathable material on the knees and seat for protection from wet brush, wet seats, and water crossings, while the DWR-coated nylon Oxford upper provides excellent breathability.

DESIGN

The Woodsman takes design inspiration from ski touring and alpine gear. The first thing you’ll notice is that it’s ‘stretchy.’ Not just in a few small panels but everywhere. To complement the stretchiness, we articulated the patterns for athletic riding and for alternating between a seated and standing riding position. They are comfortable enough that minimalists can use them as their only pair of pants on a multi-day trip. They work on and off the bike, around the fire, and out for a beer. Dust and dirt are the only things that will give them away as riding pants.

There are four vents on the thighs, two cargo pockets for your wallet, phone, trail map, or clip knife, and two hand pockets that are ‘handy’ when you’re off the bike. The pockets all zip closed, so you won’t lose your valuables if you bounce off the trail. The Woodsman is cut to fit inside your boot for durability and grip and has ample stretchiness for maximum mobility. Depending on your perspective, the Woodsman is a ‘touring pant you can trail-ride in' or a ‘trail-riding pant you can tour in.’

The Woodsman’s in-boot design allows you to grip the bike directly with your boot – without pinching fabric in the middle – which is how the bike-makers and boot-makers intended it. That’s why you rarely see off-road racers in over-the-boot pants. Unlike most in-boot pants, the Woodsman has a full-length inseam, so you won’t get that ‘moto-capri’ look when your boots come off.

With the Woodsman, we’re breaking free from the convention that you need to wear waterproof ADV gear all the time. In most sports, the rain gear comes off when the rain stops. With ADV, many riders wear waterproof gear in every type of weather, regardless of whether it’s raining or not. Even in the desert with no chance of rain, we see ADVers in head-to-toe waterproof clothes, trying to manage their heat problems in all sorts of creative ways. With the Woodsman, you can take off your rain gear and continue your trip in stretchy, breathable, comfortable pants when the rain stops. With its technical yet comfortable materials and construction, the Woodsman still achieves a CE-B rating for abrasion resistance, offering slide protection for slab routes connecting the dirt.

The Woodsman takes a hybrid approach to water management. The thighs and butt are fully waterproof with a 3-Layer softshell, while the crotch and calves are membrane-free for maximum breathability. All the seams are taped, and the entire pant is treated with a Durable Water Repellant (DWR) coating, so light water beads up at the surface. There’s just enough water repellency for stream crossings, muddy puddles, dewy brush, and light rain without causing heat problems for the rest of the ride. We call the Woodsman a ‘90% pant,’ because 90% of the time it’s exactly what you need.

Great pants with one minor issue for me. I love the materials and quality construction. I have a small issue with the leather pads on the inside of the knees, they always seem to wrinkle strangely so I get an uncomfortable crease pressing against the inside of my knees when I stand and grip the bike with my legs. I hope this goes away as they break in. Otherwise great pants. I'd buy a version without the leather pads if Mosko makes one.

The difference in fitment between 38 and 40 was massive. The 40 fit like a 42 and was manageable when I cinched in the waist adjusters, but not great. I ended up exchanging for a 38 expecting them to be perfect. Nope. (I’m normally between a 38 and 40 waist.) They fit like a 36. Could barely close the buttons in the waist and when I sat on the motorcycle, they burst open. The legs in the 38 were appropriate in length and volume. The 40 was super baggy in the legs. I love the pants in general and they seem very high quality but the sizing is a bit frustrating. I’m torn what to do.

I have the 36 regular ITB pant, and they are long for my 32" inseam. It is not just the cuff, it is the leather pad as well. The pant is bit long for an average 6' (185cm) rider. The venting works great, and the fabrics are very comfortable. I just got back from a spirited multiday trip and the pants were great!

Great fit and incredibly comfortable on the bike. I appreciate the fact the pants are full length and when you take your boots off, it doesnt look like capri pants. The pockets and vents are well placed....I only wish I bought both colours.

I’ve been more than happy with everything I’ve purchased at Mosko Moto so far except these pants. They fit great and are very comfortable. I’ve replaced my $200 KTM ADV pants which i’ve had for 7 years and 100+ small crashes in them with no damage, with the woodsman pants i’ve only wore them twice and after kneeling on the ground to let some air out of my tires it caused 3 small holes in the fabric on my knee, if they are this fragile its not going to do well in a fall.
